How to Dress Like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac for Halloween

This page is about dressing like lovable, Insane Johnny from JTHM (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac) by Jhonen Vasquez. It was created because there aren't any Johnny costumes out there, and you must make your own. The first part of this section begins with a short intro on Johnny, and then the steps begin. Look at the "What you will need" to find out what clothes you will need to wear.

Steps

  1. Dress like a goth. Johnny is believed to be based off of the Goth style (Make-up around the eyes, his gloominess, boots with buckles, etc.). Look at the pictures throughout the series, or, if you don't have a comic, look on the internet for some pictures. (Get them as least bloody as you can so that you can see his shirt.) When you add the makeup around the eyes, remember that Johnny doesn't sleep (he is an insomniac) so picture bags or dark circles around your eyes.Dress%20Like%20Johnny%20the%20Homicidal%20Maniac%20for%20Halloween%20Step%201%20Version%202.jpg
  2. Go to stores such as Hot Topic, Target, Party stores, and even online stores. Get striped clothes like Henleys, arm warmers, and shirts. The pants are usually pinstriped or black, and even then you don't see much of them because the boots are long, almost thigh-high boots. Flat boots. But make sure they are tall. The boots are laden in buckles, so that means you need to apply fake/real buckles to boots you already have or buy some with buckles.Dress%20Like%20Johnny%20the%20Homicidal%20Maniac%20for%20Halloween%20Step%202%20Version%202.jpg
  3. Get a weapon of some sort; a chainsaw, swords, or even the famous scythe. This part usually comes in last, but it is a major part of Johnny. Make sure it is fake; you will not want to be walking around Halloween with a real weapon.Dress%20Like%20Johnny%20the%20Homicidal%20Maniac%20for%20Halloween%20Step%203%20Version%202.jpg
  4. Style your hair correctly. Johnny has short black hair, messy, with the ends at all sides, spread out. Only occasionally does he have it combed back. Get some temporary Hair dye and style your hair or get a wig at a party store or specialty wigs shop. Many shops that are specialties carry some wigs that are primarily used for acting and costumes. (You may have to get a customized one, though, if nobody near you sells that kind of wig.)Dress%20Like%20Johnny%20the%20Homicidal%20Maniac%20for%20Halloween%20Step%204%20Version%202.jpg
