How to Dress Like a Popular Girl (in Middle and High School)

Steps

Go Shopping

  1. Save money: People will judge you by your clothes, so it's something you should really invest in. You can do little tasks around the house, have a bake sale and even sell old clothes online. It's really important that you don't feel limited and you keep the illusion that you have a magic closet that provides you with an endless amount of clothes.
  2. Be Prepared: Before you even hit the shops, make sure you have an idea of what you want to buy. Flip through Seventeen Mag or go on the shop's website. If you have what kind of clothes you want in mind, it will save you time and money!
  3. Go to the mall: Steal your mom for a couple hours or go shopping with your buddies. And make sure you have plenty of money! I suggest going on a big shopping spree every other month but buying a new dress or pair of shoes every week. If you don't have any money, there is always window shopping. This way you'll be inspired to make some money to buy the actual clothes.
  4. Take your time: This is so much easier if you are alone. You need to take your time and pick out the clothes you want, look at the price tags and then try them. If you can't try it on, make sure you can return it. Also, if it's too tight or too loose don't give up on it yet. You can always lose two pounds or get it tightened.
  5. Ask for Gift Cards: Have a birthday coming up? Ask your relatives and classmates for gift cards to your favourite stores. This way they won't have to stress out over getting you a present and you can actually buy something you like. After a while, it really adds up!
  6. DIY your own clothes: This is good if you want to save money, because sometimes you can just make those $70 high-waisted shorts for under $10. It's easy. Just go on pinterest, youtube or even here on wikihow to find out how to make your own clothes. Consider investing into a seeing machine if you get really into it.
  7. Organize your clothes: When you come back from the ball, don't leave your bags around. You'll end up forgetting that you got new clothes. Put them in the wash or hang them, then put the bags away. This way you will keep them new and tidy.
  8. Keep your closet tidy: This will save you a lot of time and spare you the stress. Every night before bed, spend 15 minutes organizing your wardrobe. If you must, color code your clothes and buy cool shelves for your shoes. If a popular girl has one thing, it would be a beautiful closet.

Create the Perfect Outfit

  1. Plan what you're going to wear each week: If you have school, you won't have to scramble for an outfit early morning. During the weekends, separate what you're going to wear for the weak ahead. Or at least have a mental list of the outfits. Everything from the shoes to the bracelets.
  2. Staples:  You must have basic staples in your closet. You know, basic things you can wear with almost everything. A white tee, black pencil skirt and basic pair of jeans are a must! You can add your own staples. Like if it's rainy where you live, make sure there are leggings and combat boots on the side of your closet ready for you to pick up any minute. These staples should be your to-go items and the most important in your wardrobe.
  3. Wear Trendy tops: Graphic tees are so in, and the best part about it is that you can find one that matches every style. If your style girly, you can wear a soft pink one with daisies on it. If you're edgy, there are tops with bold skulls and crosses.
