This is how to dress like a punk rocker but yet artsy at the same time!
Steps
-
Get the hair. Your hair is not the most important step in becoming an Artsy Rocker. Your hair can be any color and it can have random streaks of color, bleached sections, anything you would like. Or you can keep it your natural color or get extensions if your parents don't want you to dye it.
-
Get the makeup. You can go natural or use eyeliner (but not too much; you don't want to look goth) or just use a simple evening skin tone powder. You can also do artsy makeup by making your face look like a canvas, meaning you can use purple glitter eyeshadow if you please. Any sort of makeup will do.
-
Get the clothes. You want to tend to go with things with pattern on top and not too wild-colored bottoms, but you could also work the wild patterned bottoms with a black band t-shirt. For example, you can buy bright purple skinny jeans with bright orange ballet flats and a black band t-shirt with safety pins in it with a denim vest with band pins also. You can also get a brightly patterned top with black skinny jeans and combat boots. The choices are endless! As long as you mix in a Rocker Element with an Artsy Element and lots of accessories!
-
Get a messenger bag or purse. It can be more punky and decorated with badges or pins or it can be artsy and more bubbly! Anything you choose!
-
Get the shoes. Your shoes can be anything you please! Ballet flats, combat boots, Converse, Doc Martens! If you purchase a lot of ballet flats, try to add more punky elements.
-
Accessories! Try not to go to overboard with accessories but you can buy jelly bracelets and wear them all at the same time, or just lots of bracelets in general! Headbands and sunglasses are good too!

Tips
- Make sure you just don't throw your hair up into a bun or ponytail constantly, try side braids, mohawks, liberty spikes! Anything will do except buns and ponies!
- Just have fun with it! It's a very versatile style.
Warnings
- Don't do this too quickly as you will be labeled a poser. Ex: start with the haircut, then color, then clothes. A good tip is to do this over the summer.
- Don't change your attitude to mean rude and nasty! Artsy people are fun and punk rockers aren't usually mean!
