How to Dress Up As Tonks for Halloween

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling have inspired many people of all ages. As a fan, you might want to impersonate your favourite character on Halloween. Below, you can find a few suggestions on how to dress up as Nymphadora Tonks.

Steps

  1. Pick your favourite "version" of Tonks. As Tonks goes through several changes in appearance throughout the books, pick the description that you like best. In this article, the example of the pink hair will be used. Purple hair spray looks great, too.Dress%20Up%20As%20Tonks%20for%20Halloween%20Step%201.jpg
  2. Gather supplies. If you want pink hair, check out your options in big supermarkets shortly before Halloween. They may carry inexpensive wigs or wash-out coloring spray.Dress%20Up%20As%20Tonks%20for%20Halloween%20Step%202.jpg
  3. Assemble your clothing. If you find it complicated enough to worry about hair and make-up, go with dark clothes and wear a witch's cape over them. Note that Tonks is somewhat punk. She wears heavily patched jeans with band t-shirts. Striped tights or knee high striped socks would work well with Converse or combat boots. Add a long jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, or cape. If you have a large budget, you may want to check e-bay sites for Renaissance/Medieval attire and purchase a dressy, heavy cape for effect. If you're experienced in sewing and you start a reasonable amount of time before Halloween, you could even make one to suit your taste. If, however, you don't want to spend too much, you could just pick a cape out from your supermarket's supply of pre-made Halloween costumes.Dress%20Up%20As%20Tonks%20for%20Halloween%20Step%203.jpg
  4. Accessorize. Since Tonks is a member of the Order of the Phoenix, you could create an accessory that shows off this characteristic, i.e. something similar to a police badge bearing the crest. You could make it by photocopying the book cover to a smaller size, coloring it accordingly, and pasting it to a sturdy back of stiff cardboard. Attach a safety pin to the back and decorate it with glitter or a gold-colored marker. This is a very low-budget example for a pin-on badge. Alternatively, you could use the logo as featured on Wikipedia and draw it on your skin (like a tattoo) with lip liner in a semi-obvious place (like the inside of your forearm). You could also purchase some jewelry featuring a Phoenix symbol and wear that for a classier and more grown-up look (ebay, again, might be helpful).Dress%20Up%20As%20Tonks%20for%20Halloween%20Step%204.jpg
  5. Apply make-up (optional). Since Tonks is said to have a pale complexion, you may want to apply some pale make-up to make your eyes stand out more. Apply with caution. Since your Halloween character is one of the "good guys", you don't want to make it look creepy.Dress%20Up%20As%20Tonks%20for%20Halloween%20Step%205.jpg
  6. Remember, Tonks is a total klutz, act accordingly. Dress%20Up%20As%20Tonks%20for%20Halloween%20Step%206.jpg
