A ghagra choli is an Indian outfit for ladies and girls. It can be made out of silk, cotton and sometimes polyester. However, dressing in one might, sometimes, seem hard for people who are first-timers.
Steps
-
Decide what kind of ghagra you want. There are several types: formal, or every-day. Do you want a heavy silk or light-weight cotton ghagra? Should it be simple or decorative?
-
Buy a ghagra. Normally, you can buy them in any store in India. In the US, certain Indian stores sell them and they can also be purchased online.
-
First, wear a tank top underneath the blouse unless the blouse is made to expose a belly button. Sometimes, blouses can get transparent.
-
Put on the blouse and do the backside. Sometimes, it can simply be zipped up. Other times, it has to be hooked. Match the hooks to the strings on the other side, but be careful. They might be delicate and can break.
-
Slip on the skirt like you normally would. If it is not elastic, tie the drawstring tightly-it tends to loosen up.
-
The scarf, in modern times, is either draped around the neck or shoulders. It can also be arranged on just one shoulder. Try to do it to match with the dress.
-
No ghagra outfit is complete without proper accessories. Find matching Indian bangles, dangling earrings and a necklace. For an even better view, put on a, "bindi", a dot worn on the forehead to symbolize beauty.
-
Make sure your face is also clean. Exfoliate, and wear some minimal lotion. Comb your hair back and make it shiny.
Tips
- Tie back long hair into a braid.
- Buy the outfit from India, where you can bargain for prices in most places.
- To accompany the lovely outfit, wear sandals, preferably golden, silver or black.
Warnings
- Be careful about the top and tie it accordingly.
- Be ladylike while in the outfit.
